AYSO 351 Community Meeting

Dear Parents and Volunteers of AYSO Region 351:

Thank you for your patience during our recent leadership transition. As your new board, we want to assure you that AYSO 351: Ogden is here to stay. AYSO has been a vital part of the Ogden Community for decades, offering generations of our young people a safe, fair, and fun environment in which to play soccer. We are fully committed to sustaining this legacy during our time as your board.

We invite you to join us for a community meeting on Friday, April 12th at 6:00 pm at Ogden High School. We’re excited to introduce you to members of our new local leadership team, to go over details for our Spring Season, and to address your questions and concerns.

As we’ve talked with many of you over the past month, we’ve had several recurring questions that we feel need to be answered for everyone in the AYSO 351 Community.

  • Is AYSO Region 351 affiliated with any other soccer club? Are we now something other than AYSO?

No. While many soccer clubs serve the Ogden area, AYSO Region 351 is an independent local organization run with the support of area, section, and national boards made up of AYSO volunteers.

  • Who determines how much I pay to register my kid(s) to play AYSO Soccer?

Registration fees are determined by the local Regional Board; what we charge participants is based on the unique needs of our region. After evaluating Region 351’s resources and needs for the Fall 2019/Spring 2020 season, we’ve cut our fees significantly. Please look at the fee breakdown at https://www.ayso351.org/Default.aspx?tabid=855799.

  • Where does my registration money go? I’ve heard that it’s used to pay the salary of AYSO’s National Board in California.

AYSO is a volunteer-run organization from top to bottom; no board member (regional, area, section, or national) is paid. The Region Fee covers a uniform (jersey, shorts, and socks), field maintenance, and games in the fall and spring. The National Player Fee includes supplemental accident insurance for each player and volunteer, training for coaches and referees, and membership in U.S. Soccer.

  • Will I be charged to volunteer for AYSO?

No. There is no fee to volunteer for AYSO 351, as the region covers the cost of the required background check.

  • What support does AYSO offer coaches?
We offer Coach Training for all levels, from 6U to Advanced Coach; this training is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Coaching Education (NCACE). We are the only youth soccer organization with this accreditation. We also offer Intermediate Coach training, which cross-certifies to a USSF E license.

Many more items will be addressed at our meeting this Friday. We hope you’ll join us with additional questions and that you’re as excited as we are to serve the Ogden soccer community!
